10-16-15 fdl noon kiwanis pancake day

todayOctober 15, 2015

All the pancakes one can eat will be featured when Fond du Lac Noon Kiwanis holds its 56th Pancake Day on Thursday, Oct. 22, 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. This year’s event will again be held at the American Legion Fox Hole Bar & Hall, 500 Fond du Lac Ave., near the FDL County Fair Grounds.  Proceeds are used to help fund a number of important community projects including the free Learn to Swim lessons at the Fond du Lac YMCA each summer, The Fond du Lac Children’s Chorale, the free Parenting Newsletters for all new moms and dads (born at Agnesian hospitals), pediatric ambulance kits provided to all area ambulance services, newborn sleep sacks provided free, and much more.  In addition to all the pancakes one can eat, the meal also includes sausage, applesauce, milk and coffee. A bake sale will be held and is sponsored by the St. Mary’s Springs Key Club (sponsored by FDL Noon Kiwanis).  Cost of each ticket is $6 in advance and $7 at the door. Cost for children ages 3 to 10 is $3 and those under age 3 eat free. Plenty of parking is available. Kiwanis serves the children of the world and Kiwanis International has raised over $100 million to help eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus (MNT). MNT steals the lives of nearly 60,000 innocent babies and a significant number of women each year. The effects of the disease are excruciating — tiny newborns suffer repeated, painful convulsions and extreme sensitivity to light and touch.  To eliminate MNT from the Earth, more than 100 million mothers and their future babies must be immunize. Kiwanis members throughout the world have already raised $100 million toward a goal of $115 million. Kiwanis is helping to fund costs of vaccines, syringes, safe storage, transportation, thousands of skilled staff and more. KI recently helped UNICEF with its goal of eliminating iodine deficiency disorders in the world, again raising over $100 million.  For pancake tickets, contact Ann Calnin at 922-7072. For more information about Noon Kiwanis, which meets at Fat Joe’s every Tuesday noon, contact President Tiffany Heim at 920-924-0530, ext. 352. It’s a great way to become involved and give something back to the Fond du Lac community during your lunch hour and at various fundraisers.
