The Wisconsin AAA says now is the time to have routine maintenance on your vehicle to prevent breakdowns during the winter driving season. State AAA spokesman Nick Jarmuscz says in 2014 AAA responded to more than 29 million calls for roadside assistance with the majority due to battery failure, flat tires and keys locked in vehicles. A recent AAA survey revealed that 35 percent of motorists skipped or delayed service or repairs that were recommended by a mechanic or listed in the vehicle’s factory maintenance manual.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
