The Waupun Fire Department will be conducting fire training thanks to the generosity of Agnesian HealthCare and Waupun Memorial Hospital. On Monday, November 2, from 5:30-8:30pm, the former Waupun Area Clinic, located at 14 Beaver Dam Street (adjacent to Waupun Memorial Hospital), will be filled with simulated smoke in an effort to create certain conditions firefighters would expect to encounter when arriving at the scene of a structure fire. There will be no risk to patients at the nearby hospital. The smoke used during the training is non-toxic and poses no danger to the public.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
