MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin’s elections board is asking a judge to dismiss as moot one of the claims made against it in a lawsuit filed by Wisconsin Club for Growth related to the investigation into Gov. Scott Walker. The board says that since Wisconsin’s John Doe law has been changed to no longer allow investigations of political misconduct, the lawsuit’s request to stop further action is not relevant.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
