New election equipment for Fond du Lac County is arriving this week. County Clerk Lisa Freiberg says the equipment is scheduled to arrive Tuesday afternoon. Freiberg says Fond du Lac is the first county in the state to get the new wireless equipment. “One nice thing about it, it is one election machine, capable for our handicap voters,” Freiberg said. Freiberg says for the most part voters won’t notice a difference. She says there is one change on the ballot that should make it easier. “The big thing people are going to notice differently…no more drawing lines, you will be filling in an oval.”

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
