MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Proposals that would wipe out Wisconsin’s nonpartisan elections board and overhaul campaign finance law are set to be considered by the Senate later this week in an extraordinary session. The state Assembly passed the bills last month but the measures have bogged down in the Senate. Now action is scheduled for Friday.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
