MADISON, Wis. (AP) —Hall of Fame Green Bay Packers quarterback Bart Starr wasn’t in attendance today when the Wisconsin Assembly passed a resolution in his honor. The 81-year-old most valuable player in the first Super Bowl is recovering from a life-threatening lung infection about a year after a heart attack and multiple strokes debilitated him.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
