Fond du lac area veterans are being recognized during a special fundraising dinner next week. The second annual Veterans Gala is being held Tuesday evening at Marian University. The cost is $75 a person with proceeds going to Salute the Troops to benefit area veterans. Local veteran Ed Barnes says dinner starts at 6pm with a presentation at 7pm. Tina Treffert with Salute the Troops says a silent auction will be on three items including a one of a kind pendant designed by the Goldsmith. A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
