11-6-15 walker-government efficiency

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Gov. Scott Walker is telling a new commission on efficiency that taxpayers expect government to be accountable and effective.  Walker spoke Thursday at the first meeting of the commission he created on government reform, efficiency and performance.  He says the government needs to operate in a balanced way so it provides needed services in an efficient way that protects taxpayers” money.  Walker says the commission will focus on evaluating innovative solutions to ensure government continues to perform well and at a good value.  He says it will look at ways to reduce government spending, reduce service duplication, and eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse.  The commission is led by John Shiely, the former CEO of Briggs & Stratton and Scott Neitzel, secretary of Walker’s Department of Administration.
