A water main break has forced the Fond du Lac Forest Mall to close Thursday. Fire Chief Pete O’Leary says the incident was reported shortly after 7am. O’Leary says there is standing water in the mall from the center court east to Younkers Department store. ” It was good when it was found because they had remediation companies cleaning up water,” O’Leary told WFDL news. “It was just a little bit touchy because some of these places, their electrical is in the floor because in malls they don’t have a lot of wall space. Those electrical services usually come up from the floor.”

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
