For the fifth year in a row Wisconsin has received a “B” grade on the March of Dimes premature birth report card. State director of the Wisconsin Chapter of the March of Dimes, Jodi Legge, says Wisconsin’s preterm birth rate was 9.2 percent last year even though a new, more accurate measurement tool was used. Legge says the report card shows a big disaparity between the ethnic groups in Wisconsin with African-american’s who live in Milwaukee having the highest percentage of preterm birth rates.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
