MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The number of accidents on Wisconsin’s interstate system has increased since the speed limit was raised to 70 miles per hour. The Journal Sentinel says statistics from the state’s Bureau of Transportation Safety show crashes on the interstate system in June through September were up nearly 13 percent over the same period last year.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
