Each year, the Wisconsin Senate conducts an intensive program with a select group of students
from throughout the state who are invited to the Capitol for a hands-on learning experience within
the State Legislature. The Senate Chief Clerk is now seeking applications for student participants in the program, which will consist of three week-long segments held over the following dates:
February 7-12
February 14-19
March 6-11
Applications for the program are due by January 3, 2016 and applicants will be notified of their
acceptance within the month. The Senate Scholar Program is open to Wisconsin high school
students aged 16-18, as well as qualified individuals who are homeschooled.
Students in the program will be invited to participate in a wide range of experiences including
policy development, constituent relations, and crafting legislation. Participants will work with
Senators, legislative staff, and University of Wisconsin faculty and attend events taking place
within the legislature during their respective sessions. If you or a student that you know is interested in participating, please visit the Senate Scholar Program website to get more information on the program, see participant qualifications, and download an application: http://legis.wisconsin.gov/senate/scc/ssp/senatescholar.asp
