Today, members of the State Legislature, including Sen. Rick Gudex (R-Fond du Lac), sent another letter to Judge Lynn Adelman demanding that a determination is made allowing the Highway 23 project to continue. On March 17, 2014 Judge Adelman rendered a decision to vacate a court’s decision on the 1000 Friends of Wisconsin’s lawsuit against the project. Gudex says that decision has delayed safety improvements and contributed to the loss of life on the dangerous highway in Fond du Lac and Sheboygan Counties. “Judge Adelman’s choice to ignore this lawsuit is costing lives. Most, if not all of the accidents, fatal or otherwise, would have been avoided had the improvement project been allowed to proceed. It is undeniable that further delay will definitely put the future of this project in jeopardy, and it will impact the lives of the people using this roadway for school, work and travel “An average of 44 non-deer related crashes occur every year on this stretch of highway, which exceeds the state-wide average for similar roadways. This statistic is certain to worsen this coming year, and I believe that more than justifies Judge Adelman taking action,” Gudex said.
