A former convent in Campbellsport will be taken down sometime after the first of the year. St. Joseph Convent has been vacant for almost a year and is in disrepair. It was the home to the School Sisters of St. Francis. A spokesman says efforts to sell the brick building were not successful and the structure will be razed probably in February. A rummage sale was held last weekend. St. Joseph Convent is the third convent in Fond du Lac County to close its doors in the last 15 years.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
