VILLAGE OF KOHLER, Wis. (AP) — Striking union workers at the Kohler Company have greeted holiday shoppers in Wisconsin with pickets. At least 1,000 striking Kohler workers and their supporters were outside Saturday along the street that separates the company’s huge kitchen and bath ware factory from its upscale hotel, The American Club. Members of United Auto Workers Local 833 held the rally to marshal support for their week-old strike at Kohler. The rally was timed to coincide with the popular holiday market staged by the firm’s hospitality wing. There were no arrests. A Kohler spokesman says the picketers were respectful. Workers have taken issue with what they call an inadequate pay increase, higher health care costs and the continuation of a two-tier wage scale.
