Authorities say a hunter with a history of heart problems has died after helping drag a deer to a vehicle on opening day of Wisconsin’s gun deer season. The Green Lake County Sheriff’s Office says it happened shortly after 8 a.m. Saturday in the Grand River Marsh Public Wildlife Area in the Town of Kingston. Paramedics tried to help the hunter, but the hunter died later at a hospital. The hunter’s name was not released.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
