Nobody was injured in a fire that caused significant damage to a home in Waupun. Firefighters were called to the Arif Topalovski home at 201 Fond du lac Street Saturday to find flames shooting out of the roof on the back side of the home. Firefighters made entry but were pushed back as conditions in the home deteriorated. It took firefighters a couple of hours to extinguish the fire. They were on the scene for about five hours. The Red Cross is assisting the homeowner who was not home at the time of the fire. The Waupun Fire Department was assisted by the Alto, Beaver Dam, Brandon/Fairwater, Burnett, Lamartine, Oakfield and Ripon fire departments and, a Rapid Intervention Team from Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue, ambulances from Life Star and Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue, Waupun Police Department, Waupun Utilities and the Red Cross. The fire is believed to be electrical in nature. The estimated damage is $110,000-$120,000.
