11-9-15 inmate who attacked waupun correctional officer faces attempted homicide charges

The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office is requesting attempted first degree Intentional homicide charges against an inmate who attacked a correctional officer at the Waupun prison.  Sheriff Dale Schmidt says the inmate, 46 year old Bobby Kimble, attacked the 26 year old female officer on Friday October 30th.    She was transported to the hospital where she was treated and released.  Schmidt says the investigation is ongoing.

11-7-15 capitol christmas tree

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A 40-foot balsam fir from a Rhinelander farm will be the Wisconsin Capitol Christmas tree this year. Governor Scott Walker says the tree is being donated by Brad and Elizabeth Kowieski of Rhinelander. Walker's office says Brad Kowieski planted the tree on Arbor Day in 1985 at his parents' house. The tree is typically on display after Thanksgiving until the New Year.

11-6-15 log truck fire

Nobody was injured in a fire that destroyed a special off road truck used to haul logs at Mauthe Lake State Park.  Kewaskum fire chief Mark Groeschel told WFDL news firefighters were called to the scene Wednesday near the park entrance.  Groeschel says the eight wheel truck and crane was fully engulfed in flames by the time firefighters arrived.  The truck, valued in excess of $100,000 is a total loss.
