OSHKOSH, Wis. (AP) — Police at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh are investigating a suspicious fire in a dormitory. Firefighters responded to Fletcher Hall Monday afternoon. They were able to keep the fire contained to the basement. Students were evacuated. Residents allowed back an hour and a half later. The fire was the second reported in that residence hall in 48 hours. University officials say there was a report Monday, but when officials arrived the fire was already out. That fire also was in the basement of Fletcher Hall.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
