MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A University of Wisconsin System regent committee has approved giving the system’s ongoing adult education arm the authority to grant business degrees. The regents’ education committee unanimously approved changes to UW-Extension’s mission statement on Thursday allowing it to grant business certificates, associate degrees and bachelor’s degrees in businesses through the UW System’s Flex Option program.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
