12-14-15 downtown fdl vision team

The direction and future of Fond du Lac’s downtown is the focus of a new group that will be formed shortly after the first of the year.  Fond du Lac city council president Lee Ann Lorrigan says the council will take action at their first meeting in January to form a downtown Fond du Lac Vision Team.  “There’s a lot of different dynamics happening in our community, in our culture, in our country, technology is changing our habits are changing,”  Lorrigan said.  “I thought its time that we come together and address that, look at the needs and see what can we do diffferent in our community.”   Lorrigan says she hopes the team is comprised of people from different backgrounds, including those who currently don’t shop downtown.  Lorrigan says the group will meet on a regular basis and eventually report back to the council with their findings and possible recommendations.  Lorrigan says in the short term the city’s top priority downtown should be to do whatever it can to ensure the Retlaw Hotel is sold and reopened as a hotel.
