Fond du Lac’s Moraine Park Technical College has announced a new partnership with Ottawa University in the Milwaukee suburb of Brookfield. The two colleges have partnered to allow for students to have up to 80 earned credits from Moraine Park transfer to Ottawa University. Of the 124 credit hours required to complete a bachelor’s degree, the remaining 44 upper division credit hours are taken at Ottawa University and can be completed in less than two years. Ottawa University opened one of the nation’s first adult-learning campuses in Kansas City in 1974 and expanded to the Milwaukee area in 1994. Students are given a scholarship at Ottawa University that allows them to earn a bachelor’s degree for under $25,000 in total.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
