12-18-15 appeals court upholds conviction of fdl man

todayDecember 17, 2015

A Wisconsin Appeals court says pre-trial publicity did not prejudice jurors against a man found guilty in the brutal attack of a Fond du Lac woman.   The District II Court of Appeals dismissed Shannon Parker’s claim that Circuit Judge Dale English erred in using a jury picked from Fond du Lac County due to pre-trial publicity. The court also upheld English’s decision to allow statements the victim made out of court and at trial identifying Parker. Parker was convicted of robbery, false imprisonment, sexual assault, identity theft and battery.  He was sentenced to more than 50 years in prison.  Police say Parker was high on drugs  in the summer of 2011 when he broke into the victim’s Morningside Drive apartment, beat her, and sexually assaulted her.
