For the past few years Fond du Lac police have been training for a situation they hope they never have to deal with again…an active shooter. Fond du Lac police chief Bill Lamb says all officers regardless of rank or assignment have received extensive training in the use of tactical equipment and several officers have received highly advanced training in areas related to active shooter response. The chief says the officers are trained to respond and act quickly. “We train our officers, if they get on scene and they believe that there is active killing, or active violence going on, they’re going in,” Lamb told WFDL news. Lamb says the Department has also worked with area schools, churches, businesses and organizations to provide active shooter training and awareness. Fond du lac has experienced two active shooter incidents in the last few years… a shootout with police that claimed the life of an officer…and earlier this year when a state patrol officer was killed in a shootout with a bank robbery suspect.
