The Fond du Lac Area United Way is closing in on its goal. Just a few days before Christmas, United Way Board president, Kathy McGowan, says the fund drive is at 80 percent of its goal. McGowan says the United Way is about your community. “We’re not the only organization out here that provides funds to the groups, but it starts with the United Way,” McGowan said. “If you make a donation to the United Way you can make a diffference.” McGowan says without United Way funding some organizations would not be able to exist.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
