12-21-15 gudex-economic development plan

todayDecember 19, 2015

Two Republican lawmakers have unveiled an economic development plan  they say will add jobs. Republican state senators, Rick Gudex of Fond du Lac and Alberta Darling are working on a series of bills they say will reduce red tape, encourage innovation, and invest in successful ideas.  The lawmakers say the legislation is a result of a statewide listening tour of the Senate Economic Development Committee.  Gudex says the legislation will allow the Public Service Commission to make grants and improve broadband access throughout Wisconsin, encourage students to enter high demand fields,  create regional investment funds  and help move ideas into the marketplace with development grants. Gudex says the measures will also help cut red tape, encourage long term research and development and increase the impact tourism has in Wisconsin.
Darling and Gudex expect to have public hearings on their bills in early January.
