12-21-15 prosecutors file motion to intervene in walker probe

todayDecember 19, 2015

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Three prosecutors have filed a motion to intervene in a court case halting a secret investigation into Gov. Scott Walker’s recall campaign.  Five district attorneys began investigating whether Walker’s campaign illegally coordinated with outside groups in 2012. A judge later appointed special prosecutor Francis Schmitz to run the probe.  The state Supreme Court halted the investigation this summer. The justices gave the prosecutors until Friday to file motions to intervene. If such a motion is granted the prosecutors could appeal the ruling to the U.S. Supreme Court.  Two prosecutors said this week they’re out. Court records indicate Milwaukee County District Attorney John Chisholm filed a sealed motion Friday to intervene on behalf of three district attorneys. Chisholm is the only prosecutor named in the records.
