The Fond du lac County executive says a decision last week that prevents a violent sex offender from being placed in Fond du lac County shows that democracy works. A Milwaukee judge ordered that Clint Rhymes be placed in Milwaukee County. The Department of Health Services had rescinded a supervised release plan that would have placed Rhymes in a town of Eldorado residence. But town residents wrote letters to the judge expressing their concerns. The Fond du Lac County Board last week approved a resolution in opposition to the placement of out of county sex offenders being placed in Fond du Lac County when they are released from custody. County executive Al Buechel says he doesn’t know what all the answers are when it comes to placing sex offenders in communities but says placing Rhymes in Fond du lac County was a bad answer.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
