The Fond du Lac County Public Health Officer says a new CDC report on obesity shows that much more work needs to be done. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says the obesity rate has climbed to nearly 38 percent of adults, up from 32 percent a decade ago. Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says obesity is a top health issue in Fond du Lac County. The report also shows women have now overtaken men in the obese category.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
