A Milwaukee man is in custody following a high speed chase on Interstate 41 in Winnebago and Fond du lac counties. Shortly before 11am Saturday the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office was informed a stolen vehicle was heading south on 41, passing vehicles on both the left and right shoulders at a high rate of speed. A sheriff’s deputy clocked the suspect vehicle at 97 miles an hour on 41 at County Highway N. Just south of the city of Fond du Lac the suspect made a quick maneuver to the right to avoid stop sticks that had been placed on the Interstate. The vehicle entered the median and the driver fled on foot. He was apprehended about three quarters of a mile away. Oakfield firefighters were called to extinguish a small grass fire that had started under the vehicle. The suspect was transported to St. Agnes Hospital where he was treated and released and transported to the Fond du lac County Jail.
