The American Automobile Association is urging automakers to put consumer interests first and rethink eliminating spare tires from new vehicles. State AAA spokesman Nick Jarmuscz says one third of new vehicles are now sold without a spare tire, replacing it with tire inflator kits. Jarmuscz says tire inflator kits are not a substitute for a spare tire. The kits cannot be used for example if the object that caused the flat is no longer odged in the tire. AAA research also revealed tht more than one in five millennial drivers, ages 18-34 , do not know how to change a tire, compared to nearly 90 percent of drivers aged 35-54 that know this important skill.. 97 percent of men claim to know how to change a tire, while 68 percent of women feel confident to do so.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
