About a month after the historic Retlaw hotel in downtown Fond du lac closed its doors, city officials are hopeful a new buyer can be found soon. Downtown Partnership executive Director, Amy Hansen, says there has already been some interest expressed. “I was notified by four different parties shortly after that announcement (Retlaw closing) by people of interest doing the property and one development group has come forward as a very viable looker,” Hansen told WFDL news. “At this time its in foreclosure process, there’s a lot of legalities beign settled.” Hansen says the hope is that potential investors who were turned away by the initial asking price take a second look now that the hotel is going through the foreclosure process.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
