1-2-16 fdl fire prevention chief disagrees with live christmas tree proposal

todayDecember 31, 2015

The Division Chief of Fire Prevention with the Fond du Lac Fire and Rescue Department says he disagrees with a Republican legislative proposal that would prohibit banning live Christmas trees in churches.   The lawmakers say national fire prevention guidelines permit live trees in churches with adequate safeguards.  Fond du Lac Fire prevention chief Troy Haase says Fond du Lac churches are not allowed to have live trees because of the safety issue.  “We have taken the stance of not having live christmas trees in those types of buildings because of the danger,”  Haase told WFDL news.  “Anybody can Google that and they will see the damage a christmas tree can do in a very, very short amount of time.”
