MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A University of Wisconsin System regents committee has approved a resolution affirming the system's commitment to free speech. The regents' education committee voted unanimously to adopt the resolution Thursday afternoon during a meeting on the UW-Madison campus. Approval would send the resolution on to the full board of regents for consideration on Friday.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A University of Wisconsin System regent committee has approved giving the system's ongoing adult education arm the authority to grant business degrees. The regents' education committee unanimously approved changes to UW-Extension's mission statement on Thursday allowing it to grant business certificates, associate degrees and bachelor's degrees in businesses through the UW System's Flex Option program.

IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — A retired National Parks Service superintendent has been charged with stealing ancient Native American remains from a museum collection in Iowa and keeping them in Wisconsin. 12-11-15 fdl man convicted in gun incident at local nail salon

A Fond du Lac man accused of threatening an ex girlfriend with a gun at a nail salon has copped a plea.   As part of the agreement 19 year old Jerry Yang pleaded no contest to a charge of second degree recklessly endangering safety.  Charges of carrying a concealed weapon and disorderly conduct were dismissed and read into the record.  A sentencing hearing is scheduled for February 29th.   Police say […]

A local firearms instructor says he’s not surprised to see an increase in gun sales.  Background checks for gun purchases soared to the highest one-day total ever the day after  Thanksgiving in Wisconsin, mirroring a national surge on Black Friday.
