The American Red Cross is helping two Oshkosh residents with emergency financial assistance after a fire Thursday. Nobody was injured in the fire in the 1700 block of Beech Street. Red Cross Disaster Action Team volunteers met with the occupants to assess their needs after the fire. Financial assistance will be provided to meet basic emergency needs at this time. Alternative housing arrangement have already been made. The Red Cross is also providing comfort kits containing personal care items such as toothbrushes, deodorant, shaving supplies and other personal hygiene items.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
