A Black Creek man has made his initial court appearance on charges that he burglarized a Mayville church in November. Eighteen year old Tristan Vandeneng is charged with burglary, theft, and criminal damage to property in Dodge County Circuit Court. On November 8th, Mayville Police responded to a report of an overnight burglary that occurred at Christian Life Fellowship Church. The suspect broke in and took valuable electronics, money and a safe that contained papers that are invaluable to CLF. The Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office later contacted Mayville Police, saying they discovered the safe and many of the other stolen items in Vandeneng’s apartment. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for March 3rd.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
