1-6-16 fdl county republican party treasurer says turnout will be key for johnson

todayJanuary 6, 2016

A Fond du Lac County Republican party leader says turnout may be the key on whether Republican U.S. Senator Ron Johnson is re-elected.  Johnson is being challenged by the man he beat in the 2010 election, Russ Feingold.   Recent polls have shown Feingold ahead of Johnson and  Fond du Lac County Republican party treasurer, Rohn Bishop, says many political observers consider Johnson to be vulnerable.   Bishop says Democrats get out and vote in presidential election years and the question for Johnson is how big the turnout will be?  “He should be very concerned.  Its probably one of the top targeted seats,”  Bishop told AM 1170 WFDL’s Between the Lines program.  “In Wisconsin we have not elected a statewide Republican candidate in a presidential year since Bob Kasten (U.S. Senate) in 1980.” Bishop says the other interesting phenomenon,  according to the polls, is just how unknown Johnson still is after six years in office.
