The Ripon Medical Center Foundation Board will decide soon how it plans to use one of the largest donations in the history of the Foundation. The gift of more than $246,000 comes from the estate of the late Ruth Birge who passed away last year at the age of 94. Ripon Medical Center Director Kathryn Vergos says the board will decide at their next meeting how the money will be used. “If we’re going to use it for one large project or if we are going to divy it out to multiple projects. When Ruth donated it she donated it as an unrestricted fund,” Vergos told WFDL news. Birge was a long-time Ripon resident who utilized healthcare services at Ripon Medical Center.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
