A bold musician walked into Mike’s Music in Fond du Lac Wednesday, practiced on some of the instruments, and then quickly grabbed two high-priced guitars and fled. Store owner Dan Gilgenbach says the thief stole a Fender Telecaster and handmade Breedlove acoustic guitar before getting into a car parked outside with the engine running and fled the scene. The car had Illinois license plates. Gilgenbach says a store employee tried to chase the suspect but it was too late. The thief was captured on store surveillance video and police are investigating. Both guitars are valued at about $2000 each.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
