MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Governor Scott Walker wants Wisconsin’s attorney general to challenge President Barack Obama’s gun control plan. Walker said in a statement Wednesday that he believes Obama overstepped his authority when he announced an executive action to expand mandatory background checks to gun shows, flea markets and online sales. Attorney General Brad Schimel issued a statement saying he’s asked his attorneys to review Obama’s order and he will determine the next steps.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
