A Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s captain says alcohol and failure to wear seatbelts were factors in more than half of the traffic fatalities on Fond du Lac County roads last year. Sheriff’s captain Rick Olig says there were 12 trraffic fatalities in the county in 2015. “Of those 12 nine of them happened within six months,” Olig told WFDL news.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
