A Waupun man convicted of selling crack cocaine has been placed on probation. Dodge County Circuit Judge, Joseph Sciascia placed 37 year old Gary Campbell on five years probation with a year in the county jail. Dodge County District Attorney Kurt Klomberg argued for a 15 year prison sentence. Campbell had served a ten year prison sentence for reckless homicide, and had been out of prison only four months before he was arrested in Beaver Dam for selling cocaine to undercover drug agents.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
