With the snowmobile season approaching The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office has partnered with The Dodge County Association of Snowmobile Clubs in establishing a Trail Ambassador Program. Members from the club have volunteered for this program to assist with monitoring the 400 miles of trails that are in Dodge County. The ambassadors will patrol the trails to discourage irresponsible behavior through education, assist all trail users and assist with search and rescue. Ambassadors will not be performing enforcement functions, but rather aiding law enforcement by educating the public. According to Recreation Patrol Deputy Scott Petrack, “The main goal of the Trail Ambassador Program is safe operation and enjoyment for all riders.” Ambassadors have the knowledge of snowmobile laws and regulations as well as knowledge of safe operation, which will allow them to assist the public while riding on the trails. Deputy Petrack reminds snowmobilers that they need to verify trail status prior to riding by calling the 24 Hour Trail Status Line at (920)386-3705.
