A former Fond du Lac city councilmember is accused of writing a forged check. James Nagle made his initial Fond du Lac court appearance Monday appearing via video conference from the Fond du Lac County Jail on charges of forgery and uttering. He is accused of writing a forged check at The Goldsmith jewelry store in Fond du lac. Fond du Lac assistant police chief Steve Klein says Nagle attempted to pass a check that had been stolen from a friend of his in the Oshkosh area. Nagle is free on a $1,000 signature bond with orders to have no contact with The Goldsmith. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for February 12th. Nagle had taken out papers to run for city council this spring…but did not return the papers. His wife Kathleen Nagle serves on the Fond du Lac School Board. She is not running for re-election.
