The Fond du Lac Solutions Center warming shelter has been busy during this latest cold snap. “We have been at or near capacity every night,” Solutions Center program Director Karen O’Rourke told WFDL news. “We’re averaging between 17 and 20 indivduals a night.” O’Rourke says she wants to make it clear that the shelter is open this week. O’Rourke says there was some confusion because the shelter was short staffed. “We did not have enough staff to cover for this coming Wednesday and Thursday nights. However we have made arrangements and we have staff that have indicated they would be able to pick up those hours.” The warming shelter will be open from 6pm to 8am Wednesday and Thursday.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
