MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A bill allowing people with concealed weapon permits to carry guns on school grounds is likely going nowhere in the Wisconsin Assembly. Senate President Mary Lazich and Representatives Robert Brooks and Jesse Kremer began circulating the bill for co-sponsors on Wednesday. Assembly Speaker Robin Vos said Thursday it’s unlikely the bill will get a floor vote.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
