The North Fond du Lac school superintendent says he fears a bill that would allow residents to carry concealed weapons on school grounds would make schools less safe. Senate president Mary Lazich and Representative Robert Brooks introduced their bill last week. Superintendent Aaron Sadoff says allowing guns on school grounds would introduce an entirely new element that wasn’t there before. The Assembly speaker said last week the bill is unlikely to get a floor vote.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
