1-19-16 fdl police talk with person of interest regarding “suspicious incident”

todayJanuary 19, 2016

Fond du Lac Police have made contact with a man involved in a suspicious incident last week…but no arrests have been made.  Assistant police chief Steve Klein told WFDL news says a 50 year old Fond du lac man admitted he talked with a female middle school student who was walking home from school last Wednesday, but denies having any physical contact with her.   Meanwhile Klein says it turns out a man seen on surveillance video leaving the South Main Street Kwik Trip store was not the person of interest.  “He actually contacted our department over the weekend and said I’m the guy in the video surveillance.  Officers were able to speak with him and corroborate his information,”  Klein said.  “He’s been ruled out as having any involvement in this incident.”   Police say the girl told her mom she was approached by a man in the area of South Main and 15th Streets last Wednesday afternoon while she was walking home from Theisen Middle School.  The girl says the man told her she was cute, asked her name and put his arm on her shoulder directing her to walk on 15th Street.   The girl says she walked away to go home.
