1-19-16 national weather service says gradual warm-up this week will last

todayJanuary 19, 2016

A National Weather Service meteorologist says the frigid cold weather to start this week…may end up being the coldest days of the winter season.  Meteorologist Mark Gehring says unlike recent winters there has been no prolonged cold snap this winter…and that probably won’t happen this winter.  “With the warming that is going to occur later in the week we are expecting normal to above normal temperatures for the remainder of January and for a good part of the first half of February,”  Gehring told AM 1170 WFDL’s Between the Lines program.  “We do believe this (week) will be the coldest air of the winter season, right now.”   Gehring says El Nino is the reason for the expected mild rest of the winter.
